Children are supervised by members of the school staff at all times in the playground. Children are offered a piece of fruit to eat during morning playtime. Reception children receive free milk if you choose for them to have it; all KS1 children may purchase milk via LINK. Children have their milk during mid-morning break. Sweets, biscuits, drinks and crisps are not allowed. Children may have a drink of water whenever they need to. Staff encourage all children to have a drink at different times in the school day. Each afternoon the children may have a supervised activity break at a time when there is a natural break in their learning.
Hot school dinners are cooked on the premises and available daily. Meals are free to all following the introduction of UIFSM (Universal Infant Free School Meals). There are meal 3 choices daily and parents are encouraged to support their children to make a meal choice before the start of each school day. Children also have access to a Salad Bar, from which they make independently make healthy choices.
A very few children have a packed lunch; please provide a named lunchbox with an unbreakable and leak proof container for a drink. Facilities will be provided in the hall for the children to eat their packed lunch alongside their friends. Children are encouraged to eat healthily and fizzy drinks, cans, bottles and sweets should not be sent to school.
Lunch time supervision is provided by supervisory assistants. On fine days the children play outside whilst activities are provided inside during bad weather. Becky Chennells is our play leader creating lunchtime activities and exciting opportunities.
We have a Lunch Time Champion! Miss King has lunch alongside nominated children. She also runs our "Top Table" on Fridays, where 1 child from each class is chosen for their excellent lunch time manners and behaviour, to dine in the Head Teacher's Office.
